Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) :

Nathan Mironovich Milstein (1904-1992) performed at the highest level into his mid 80s, retiring only after suffering a broken hand. After playing many different violins in his earlier days, including the 1710 ex-"Dancla" Stradivarius for a short period, Milstein finally acquired the 1716 "Goldman" Stradivarius in 1945 which he used for the rest of his life. He renamed this Stradivarius the "Maria Teresa" in honour of his daughter Maria.

Erica Morini (1904 - 1995) played the 1727 "Davidov" Stradivarius violin, named for the Russian cellist Karl Davydov, that her father had purchased for her in Paris in 1924.

The "golden age" of recordings was from 1955 to 1965, at the beginning of the LP and the stereo era, where pure vacuum tube amplification helped produce recordings demonstrating unparalleled fidelity and warmth, lifelike presence and illumination.

This Testament Records LP, revived from the EMI-Columbia catalogue, was remastered at EMI Abbey Road Studios in London, using pure analogue components only, from the original studio tapes through to the cutting head, and was pressed at Pallas.
