Recorded on July 15–16, 1963 at A&R Studios in New York City.

Surprisingly, Ella and the Basie band had only recorded together once before, on the 1957 album One O'Clock Jump.
This album was the first time that Ella Fitzgerald and Quincy Jones worked together.

This album is revered alongside Clap Hands, Here Comes Charlie! (1961), Let No Man Write My Epitaph (1960), The George and Ira Gershwin Songbook (1959), and Ella in Hollywood (1961) as one of Ella's greatest recordings

The "golden age" of recordings was from 1955 to 1965, at the beginning of the LP and the stereo era, where pure vacuum tube amplification helped produce recordings demonstrating unparalleled fidelity and warmth, lifelike presence and illumination.

This Speakers Corner LP was remastered using pure analogue components only, from the original analogue studio tapes through to the cutting head, and was pressed with virgin vinyl at Pallas. More information under http://www.pure-analogue.com
